Fox Signing is a unique renovation because it is located two blocks away from Old Economy Village. Located in the Rivertown of Ambridge, PA. Old Economy Village is registered as a National Historical Landmark. This designation was bestowed in 1919 by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. It is a six acre historic site with 17 original, restored buildings dating to 1824 – 1830 built by the Harmonist Society.
In keeping with the traditional elements of Harmonist Architecture, special care was taken to rejuvenate the outward appearance of Fox Signing. The brick work and the façade were done in such a way to fit the cityscape of the community. Along the large brick wall trellises were built to accommodate the flourishing grape vines.
The Harmonisst used this for a two fold purpose: the vines would lower the temperature of the brick walls, reducing interior temperature, making for a cooler house during the summertime. In the winter the leaves on the vines would fall off and allow the sun to warm the walls of the house.
